College Doors Day 1

Big Idea: What private schools are around me? 

After today I should be able to: identify the information about my school and plan the layout for my college door.

Agenda:

  1. Your college doors must have the following information:
    1. Name of the college in large, bold letters
    2. Location - city and state where it's located
    3. Size - student enrollment, physical size of campus
    4. Academics - popular majors, special programs, academics the school is known for
    5. Admissions - acceptance rate, average test scores, important deadlines
    6. Cost - tuition, room and board for one year
    7. School colors, logo, and mascot
  2. Your door must have FIVE of the following:
    1. Fun facts - school history, traditions, alumni, etc.
    2. Student demographics - gender ratio, geographic diversity, etc.
    3. Campus features - libraries, athletic facilities, dorms, food options
    4. Student organizations - academic clubs, cultural groups, Greek life chapters
    5. Athletics - division level, conference, mascot, big sports rivals
    6. Academics - research opportunities, study abroad options, career services
    7. Campus culture - political leanings, religious affiliation, party scene
    8. City features - outdoor activities, public transportation, dining/shopping
    9. Housing - dorm options, Greek life housing, off-campus apartments
    10. Statistics - graduation rate, average post-grad salaries, notable alumni
    11. Application requirements - required tests, essays, recommendation letters
    12. Admissions process - Early Action/Decision, Regular Decision deadlines
    13. Financial aid - average aid package, merit scholarships available
    14. Campus events - homecoming, family weekend, traditions
